Tooth pain? We can see you this week.
Can't call right now?
Send us your number and a quick note about what's going on. We'll call you back fast — usually within the hour during office hours, otherwise first thing next morning.
For life-threatening emergencies (uncontrolled bleeding, facial swelling affecting breathing) go to the nearest ER.

What to do before you get here
Quick guidance for common dental emergencies.
Call us first
Dial (908) 367-6130. We'll try to fit you in today or tomorrow, and we'll tell you what to do in the meantime based on what's going on.
Rinse with warm salt water
For general tooth pain, gently rinse with a glass of warm water and half a teaspoon of salt. It can take the edge off swelling while you wait.
If a tooth was knocked out
Pick it up by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently, and put it in a cup of milk. Call us immediately — time matters for re-implantation.
For swelling or cold sensitivity
A cold compress on the outside of your cheek for 15 minutes helps with swelling. Avoid very hot or very cold drinks until we see you.
Emergency questions, answered
What qualifies as a dental emergency?
Severe tooth pain, a knocked-out or broken tooth, a lost crown or filling causing pain, swelling in your jaw or face, or bleeding that won't stop. When in doubt, call us — (908) 367-6130 — and we'll help you triage.
How fast can I be seen?
We keep same-week emergency slots open every day we're in the office. For severe pain or a knocked-out tooth, we'll get you in today or tomorrow — call us the moment it happens so we can plan around you.
I knocked out a tooth — what do I do right now?
Pick the tooth up by the crown (not the root), rinse it gently in milk or saline, and place it in a cup of milk. Then call us immediately at (908) 367-6130. Time matters — the sooner we can re-implant, the better the chance of saving it.
What about after hours or weekends?
Leave a voicemail at (908) 367-6130 with a callback number and a quick description of what's happening. We check messages and return emergency calls outside office hours. For life-threatening swelling, go to the ER first — then call us.
How much does an emergency visit cost?
It depends on what we find and what treatment you need. We always walk you through the cost before we do anything. If you have insurance, we'll file the claim; if you don't, we have payment options including CareCredit financing.
